Codename: Greywolves 2 (part 12)

“General Mattock, I present to you, a lore of forgotten technology.”

General Mattock took out his glasses, “What is this?” As he held a tiny microchip between his fingers.

“Adaptive Camouflage. It renders the user invisible, as it projects what is behind the wearer to the front of them. They’ll be nothing but a blur. It is in test phase, but so far it works. This is my only working prototype.”

General Mattock smiled. “I know what we can do with this.”

10 entered the office of General Mattock, Major Winters and a recovering Staff Sergeant Allyn sat in the chairs in front of his desk.

10 walked up to the General and properly saluted.

“I am here as ordered sir.”

General returned the salute.

“At ease, relax 10. There is a big favor I must ask of you. And you only.” General Mattock asked 10, the recon specialist.

“I am ready sir.” 10 replied as his hands were behind him.

“I want to drop you, and only you, deep into Seventh Legion territory. It’s very risky. And you could very well die. But I have a mission for you.”

“We want to drop you in, and find this man, as your secondary target.” Major Winters added as she showed a full facial photograph of Agent Three.

“I want you to kill him.” General Mattock added onto Major Winters request.

10 nodded. “Who is my primary?”

General Mattock smiled, “General Keith, the leader of the Seventh Legion.”

“You can say no, 10. This is extremely risky. But you are the man for the job. You have higher skill levels of deep undercover espionage, stealth, and you’re quick on your feet than anyone else on Greywolves. I’ve been using you as part of my assault force, now I need you to do what you do best.” Major Winters stood up and looked 10 in the eyes. “You have the option to opt out. I will never force you to do this.”

10 nodded, as he saw the two top secret photographs of both Agent Three and General Keith.

“I will kill them both.”

10 was in the locker room, stripping off his heavy armor and slid into a lightweight plated chest armor.

To increase his mobility, he took off all of the plating to his legs, arms, wrists, hands, and knees. Even removed the helmet.

Strapping only a suppressed pistol to his right thigh on the outside, and he added several magazines across his armor. He tied a vibroblade to his left shoulder and to his left ankle.

The room was empty, only him, and his thoughts.

He drew out his suppressed pistol and racked the slide, to load a round into the empty chamber. He re holstered it in the thigh mount, and looked at himself in the mirror.

And then, he pushed an activation switch on his armor, and he vanished. The Adaptive Camouflage was working.

They were at high altitude in their aircraft, darkness of the night. A cloudless one. The moon was hidden in shadow. Major Winters was looking over at 10. His face was painted in black and dark green stripes. His crystal blue eyes shined over the camouflage paint on his face.

They were flying high over the jungle atmosphere.

She sat next to him.

“If shit gets too dicey, call for an extraction. Don’t stick around any longer then you have to.” She told him as he nodded.

“Are you sure you’re ready?” Winters asked.

10 nodded. “I’m ready.”

10 got up and walked to the back of the aircraft as the exit door began to draw open.

“Good luck Greywolf. Come back to us.” Winters was worried this was the last time she would see her only recon specialist.

“You know what I like about knives, Major?” 10 asked.

She shook her head.

“They never need to be reloaded.”

10 ran out of the exit door and jumped off the ledge, with his parachute attached to his back.
